What is Free Form Role Play?

Welcome to Godriel

Godriel is a free form role playing community. For those of you new to free form role playing we will take a few moments to explain what role playing is and how we operate. In Role Playing Games or RPGs as they are often referred to, anyone can take on the persona of anyone or anything they can imagine, it is a wonderful creative outlet, encouraging use of imagination while strengthening writing skills. We strive for high quality writing and respectable fair play at this community and encourage our players to continually better their writing abilities while contributing to the story-line in a sort of interactive writing forum.

What Is Free Form Role Play?

This is what we like to call Collaborative Storytelling, using characters created by the players, which are thrust into an established setting or plot such as Godriel. It is the creation of stories by a character or several, by means of responding to a developed scene and or other character's written actions and emotions with a character you play.

How To Play
In our RP (Role Play) community play proceeds in a turn by turn format on Message Boards or Forums, this is called play by post format. It can be accomplished by other means as well such as e-mail, instant messenger, or chat rooms however at this community we encourage the written posts though do provide a chat room for our players as well.

Players should Create a Character for play of their choosing and post this Character's Creation Sheet in Forum for approval. We expect all players to read over the Etiquette Page and be aware of of it as they play. We encourage all players regardless of their level of experience in role playing to read over the rest of the informative pages and the maps of the empire our site offers before posting in any active role plays.

If you are unsure where to begin play, start by posting your character's arrival in the forum of your choosing. Usually adventure begins either outside the known universe or within its borders and a forum should be chosen accordingly. There are various different regions (category headings) on the continent. Each region contains multiple areas of interest (forums) and these are described in the forum descriptions and should be read prior to posting. Some forums contain sub forums which represent an even smaller section of one area.

We encourage players to join in by posting, either creating a new chapter or by joining in an on going story. Interact with other character's by posting your own character's actions, feelings, and thoughts in response to another's. Find Adventure by beginning a chapter so you and band of your fellow guild member might seek glorious fame or fortune. The possibilities are endless!

There will always be questions, in fact we encourage you to ask them all, our Staff Members are all more than willing to help new and experienced players to our community. Each role play forum has a staff member that moderates play in that forum. These Moderators may be contacted by personal message or also by posting in the Game Support Forum.
